Take In & Use Gases 6HN...

Summary-
Plants, mammals,(including humans) and birds breathe in oxygen gas that they get from air to survive. Plants must also take in carbon dioxide. When plants inhale carbon dioxide they exhale oxygen for other beings to live. This process is called photosynthesis.

Some characteristics of gas is that without them we wouldn't be able to live, without gas we wouldn't be able breathe because as you may know oxygen is a gas and we inhale oxygen and you may also know we exhale carbon dioxide even though we exhale carbon dioxide we still need it because as it says above plants and trees turn carbon dioxide back into oxygen so its just like a big cycle.

Mammals take in oxegyn to breathe. Their lungs must be damp so that the air can evaporate and can be moved around the body. Then they breathe out carbon dioxide which is harmful for other people and for us. Plants take in the harmful gas and, like humans, their lungs must be damp so that air can be transported around the body. Then plants exhale oxegen, which is bad for them and good for us. Now the prosess starts all over again.

Gas also helps trees to live not just humans as I said before Animals and Humans inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide this carbon dioxide gas is helping trees live because trees take in carbon dioxide so gases help everyone and everyone has there own little role to help. Trees do their bit by giving oxygen to humans and animals then humans and animals do their bit by giving carbon dioxide to trees.

Photosynthesis-
The process a plant uses to get sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen and sugar. Or energy.

What it says on the picture-
WATER + LIGHT=CHEMICAL ENERGY
1.Chloroplasts trap light energy
2. Water enters leaf.
3. Carbon Dioxide enters leaf through stomata
4. Sugar leaves leaf
CHEMICAL ENERGY + CARBON DIOXIDE = SUGAR

-Dictionary-
  • Chloroplasts - An organelle that is in the cells of green plants.
  • Organelle - Something inside a cell.
  • Stomata - The circles in leafs that allow carbon dioxide to pass through.
  • Carbon Dioxide - A gas that is produced by animals and people breathing out.
  • Hydrocarbons - A chemical compound that is a mixture of hydrogen and carbon.
  • Methane - A colourless gas that has no smell.
  • Ethane - A colourless odourless gas that is used as fuel.
  • Propane - A gas that is used for cooking and heating.
  • Butane - A gas that is obtained from petroleum (oil which is found under the surface of the Earth or under the sea bed) and is used as a fuel.
